Emily McCarthy
Currently achieving her Bachelors in Communication with a concentration in Public Relations from Florida Gulf Coast University in Fort Myers,Florida. She is very knowledgable and up to date when it comes to social media and its trends, has confidence in when it comes to crowds, meeting new people, and being in front of a camera.
She hopes to work in the entertainment media industry and is currently seeking a summer internship, preferably in the New York City area where she is from, or in a large city area where she can learn and seek many learning opportunities. She has also worked at several retail boutiques as well as her most recent job as a sales associate for a larger company, which helped grow her love for helping and working socially with others for over 9 months. This also includes taking responsibility for running the store when the manager is not present.
Some academic advisements in PR Projects:
- Created and presented an internal Public Relations campaign for Arthrex for PR Campaign/Capstone in finding new and creative ideas to increase company participation in the Great Place to Work survey
- Created a mock mini Public Relations campaign for Civil Society Brewing Company in promotion with their new location in South Florida in Principles of Public Relations class. Mock campaign also highlighted different social media tactics created to engage with a more family friendly audience based on specific media publics
- Created multiple mock Press/News Releases, Media Advisories, Fact Sheets, Letter to the Editor
- Letter to the Editor was published in The News-Press; a daily broadsheet newspaper serving parts of Lee, Collier, Hendry and Charlotte Counties
- Created a mock Public Relations Research Campaign for Block the Blaze; a nonprofit skin cancer awareness foundation.
- Created a 50-page research plan with teammates to determine if there is a positive relationship between fear of melanoma and wearing sunscreen; conducted with external research, was chosen by team members to be the moderator of the focus group and created surveys given to current FGCU students
